There’s nothing better than finding a slot game with a healthy dose of drama over the reels… and Ancient Gods certainly provides that.
There are creatures here both real and mystical. There are bags of color. There are lots of elements to discover if you’re keen to play to find out more about them. Or of course you could read our full slot game review and get some answers that way. Shall we begin?
Find out more about this developer
Ancient Gods comes from Realtime Gaming – a developer with a pleasing habit of delivering outstanding slots. Hopefully, this one might join them.
Demo access is fine and simple to use
Wherever you find this slot game to play, you’ll find a practice version alongside the real one. Start with this even if you think you’ll like the game. It sets you up for the real version if you do move on to play that as well.
The title provides a massive clue to the theme
We are in the realm of the gods, but this is a fantasy set-up, as you’ll soon realize. The game is superb in quality and presentation, and they’ve done a fine job with the theme and how it plays out.
Will you love the design?
We think so, but there is just one way for you to know for sure… and that’s to find and load the game to check it out. Expect tons of detail in the background though – something we like to see in our favorite slots. This one has lots of it, and the reels and icons look superb too.
Speaking of reels and symbols…
This is a five-reel game offering three symbols per reel when things stop spinning. We didn’t see any progressive jackpots anywhere.
We did soon find a wild and a scatter though, so let’s check those out here. You can find the Center Dragon as the wild, roaring into view on its icon. Only the golden medallion – and yes, that’s the scatter – cannot be substituted by that wild dragon.
Adjustable paylines in Ancient Gods
You do get adjustable lines in this one, but the maximum quantity is 25.
Adjust your line bets using plus and minus controls
You’ll see these either side of the line bet amount underneath the first game reel. Coins go from one to 25 cents each, so the game stays on the low side of the wager range.
A logical paytable
You can view six pages of the paytable if you access it from the game screen. It shows you how all the symbols look and reveals more about the wild and scatter roles as well.
Is there a bonus involved?
It doesn’t appear so, no.
Are there any free spins?
Yes, you can trigger some by finding three or more of those scattered medallions in a single spin. The quantity won depends on how many wilds and scatters appear in that combination. You’ll get two games for each one. This means a minimum of six is available, but you might get a lot more.
The multiplier here is 1x, but if you found four or five triggering scatters, you’ll get a 2x or 3x multiplier instead. Another perk is that all wilds and scatters reveal yet more wilds on the reels, so there could be some promising spins in this round.
Any idea of the RTP?
No, but that’s not unusual when we’re reviewing a game from Realtime Gaming.
Is the Ancient Gods slot worthy of a high rating?
We’re giving this one 8/10. It does enough to grant that score, for sure, but there are things that we’d like to see here. A bonus feature would have been good, for example.
For possible prizes, visit the paytable
A roaring dragon (different to the Center Dragon) awards up to 1,250x your bet. The phoenix can grant up to 1,000x your bet, so there are some neat prizes available if you can get to them.
Test the game in demo mode first
Is this the ideal game with lots of appeal for you? You can find out with a few spins of the practice game if you like the theme. It offers plenty and feels different from many other fantasy-themed games too.
Play the real thing at RTG casinos
There are lots of online casinos offering the full suite of games from this developer. If you’d like to try Ancient Gods at one of those, you should be able to get to the demo without joining. You’ll need an account if you want to play the real version though.
What about mobile gaming?
Yes, grab your Android device, iPad, or iPhone and you’re good to go.
